NCS Enterprises, L.L.C. Creates Multi-Lingual Audio Tour Access to Fallingwater
Pittsburgh
,
Pennsylvania
April 2008 NCS Enterprises, LLC has teamed with Fallingwater,
a division of Western PA Conservancy, to produce audio walking tours in five languages for one of
the most famous homes in the world - Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater.
“We want all of our visitors to have their own direct experience with Frank Lloyd Wright’s
masterpiece,” said Cara Armstrong, Fallingwater's Curator of Education. “Until now, the only
way to enjoy the building was through a guided tour offered only in English, or through antiquated
multi-lingual tapes created almost twenty years ago. With the help of modern technology and
NCS’ expertise, international visitors can now tour and enjoy the house while being guided in their
native language.”
The new audio tours are available in Spanish, French, German, Italian and Japanese. The audio tours
are available on CD, with CD players available for loan at the visitor center. Visitors will also be able
to download multilingual audio for the house tour on to their own MP3 players from the Fallingwater
website, www.fallingwater.org.
One of 10 Wright-designed buildings on a new U.S. Department of the Interior list of sites eligible
for nomination to the United Nations’ World Heritage List over the next 10 years, Fallingwater is
increasingly drawing visitors from beyond the United States; over 145,000 visitors toured the
building in 2007. “Sometimes we forget the global profile of Fallingwater,” said Lynda Waggoner,
vice president and director of Fallingwater for the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. “But the
house attracts visitors from around the globe. The demand for these tapes is an indication of the
international stature of the site.”
Interestingly, several of the translators who worked on the project were positively influenced by
their participation in the project. Elisa Stasi, a Mt. Lebanon resident and Italian narrator for the
project said, “I truly enjoyed it. It was fun to narrate the visit. I have already spread the word to
my Italian language students and I look forward to hosting visitors from Italy to show them this
great place.”
NCS provides translation and desktop publishing of business documents, including marketing and
sales literature, technical documentation and employee communications, as well as software and
global website localization.
